It is truly sad that Mcdavid is in this situation, this teams management is nothing short of pathetic and did such a disservice to the league with this roster. God's speed to whoever takes this roster over and attempts to rebuild it.
As a Lucic supporter, I'm giving in to the idea that he is better suited to playing third line minutes at this point in his career. I'm done trying to argue that he is a top 6 forward anymore.
This team has zero on ice leadership. McDavid is a great player but not a leader. He puts his stats ahead of the Oilers on ice success. Great players like Crosby, Lemieux and Gretzky can play with average players and make them look like stars. McD has to have the Oilers best players on his line in order to look good and pad his stats.
Larsson is a top 2 defender though........ it may have been in contention before due to him not producing offensively, being considered solely as a shutdown defender, which, even then was a weak argument to make, but now that he is starting to combine a bit of offense into his game (and producing actual statistical results) combined with his stellar defensive play, you really cannot say he isn't a top 2 defender.
He faces top opposition day in and day out and succeeds at shutting them down. Now that he has finally started to incorporate offense into his game, it is hard to state that he isn't a top 2 defender. Sure, there is still a whole chunk of the season left, but if Larsson continues to do what he is doing (without PP time I remind you), he is a top 2 defender without a doubt.
Plus he is only 26. Most defenders don't peak until the 28-9ish age range.

He had the least amount of ice time last night 4th liners had more time....might be fair to suggest that the 4th line is even pushing it as far as Lucic goes

This has to be a troll statement just trying to stir the pot, because it is ridiculous.

Your lack of knowledge concerning McDavid’s contributions and linemates are equaled only by your lack of prudence, tact and talent. May you spend a thousand sleepless nights within the 6th circle of Hell, you distasteful emasculated mass of pustules.

At this point why do it halfway, might as well try Draisatl-McDavid-RNH. Three best players on one line and let the rest figure itself out, I would think scoring wouldnt be an issue at least.
